YouTube’s Robert Kinkle is the new CEO of Warner Music

Today, September 21, the American record company Warner Music Group (WMG) – one of the largest record labels in the world – announced that its new CEO will be Robert Kinkle. From January 1, 2023, he will replace longtime WMG director Stephen Cooper in this post. In August, Mr. Kinkle announced his resignation as director of business development for YouTube, where he worked for 12 years.
In June WMG informed that she is looking for a successor to Mr. Cooper. He’s been at the helm of the company since 2011, which has since gone through the slump of the early 2010s and the subsequent rise of streaming services. However, in recent times the company’s business has deteriorated again: the growth of streaming services has slowed down, and the shares of WMG itself have decreased by 15% since the IPO.
