Xi Jinping called on the Chinese military to focus on preparing for wars

The Chinese military should focus on preparing for combat, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said at a conference on national defense and military reform in Beijing.

“It is necessary to conscientiously generalize and apply the successful experience of reforms, to master the new situation and [понимать] mission requirements, focus on preparing for wars, and have the courage to explore and innovate.” quotes his TASS.

The event was attended by representatives of the Central Military Council and military academies of the country.

On September 19, Joe Biden reiterated that the US military would defend Taiwan if attacked by China. At the same time, the American president stressed that Washington continues to recognize the "one China" policy and the country's territorial integrity, according to which Taiwan is considered Chinese territory. After that, the Chinese Foreign Ministry protested to Washington, saying that the American side thus violates its promise not to support the independence of Taiwan. In addition, the US is sending a "false signal" to pro-Taiwan independence forces.

In early September, the US State Department announced plans to sell arms to Taiwan for $1.1 billion. Also in September, it became known that the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a bill to strengthen security ties with Taiwan. According to the document, Washington is going to provide Taipei with $ 4.5 billion, which the authorities of the island state will spend on weapons.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a strong protest against the bill. Also last week, the department said that Beijing is going to impose sanctions on the heads of two US defense manufacturers Raytheon Technologies and Boeing Defense in response to the provision of military assistance to Taiwan.
