Former French striker Just Fontaine has died at the age of 89. This was reported by AFP, citing his relatives.

During his career, Juste Fontaine played for Reims (1956-1962), Nice (1953-1956) and Moroccan Casablanca (1950-1953). In total, he scored about 200 goals.

Just Fontaine also played for the French national football team, scoring 30 goals in games for the national team. At the 1958 FIFA World Cup, he scored 13 goals, becoming the record holder for the number of goals scored in one championship.

In 2014, he was awarded the Golden Boot for his achievement in the 1958 championship. In 2020, Juste Fontaine also became the owner of the French Legion of Honor.
