A Lebanese woman fights for her life after being set on fire by her husband. As writes arab news, a man attacked her because of an unwanted pregnancy. The offspring was undesirable in the context of the economic crisis in Lebanon.

Hana Mohammed Hodor, 21, was taken to a hospital in Lebanon in critical condition with burns to her entire body after her husband allegedly set her on fire from a gas cylinder in the house.

According to local media reports, the husband, identified as A.A., severely beat his wife, who was five months pregnant, and fought with her for refusing to have an abortion.

It is reported that A.A. did not want the child to be an additional financial burden as he and his wife came from poor families in the northern city of Tripoli.

A doctor at Al-Salam Hospital said that Hodor was admitted to the hospital on August 6 “with 100% burns to her body.” He added: “She is fighting for her life. She is between life and death in the intensive care unit. Hana was five months pregnant when the incident took place. The baby died and we had to operate on her to remove the fetus. Her chances of survival are very slim.”

The medical report says she has third-degree burns and is on life support. According to the medical report from Al-Salam Hospital, if she survives, she will need three more months of treatment.

A family friend, Abdul Rahman Haddad, told Arab News that her situation is “too delicate and serious” and her hospital bill already runs into the thousands of dollars.
