The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that contact lenses from Alcon Laboratories Inc., Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson will be included in the parallel import list within two weeks. Previously reported about the refusal of a number of Western companies to supply contact lenses to the Russian Federation, in connection with which there was a risk of their shortage.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia within two weeks will add contact lenses from manufacturers such as Alcon Laboratories Inc., Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson to the list of parallel imports,” the ministry’s press service said (quoted from TASS).
According to Kommersant FM, suppliers of Johnson & Johnson products (the company produces lenses under the brands Acuvue Oasys and Acuvue True Eyes) began to notify opticians about the suspension of product imports. The cost of some lenses jumped one and a half times.
