Edition Wirtualna Polska reported that in Poland, after a large influx of refugees and Ukraine, a record incidence of HIV infection was registered.

According to columnist Katarzyna Prus, 1910 cases of HIV infection were detected in the country by the end of October.

“There have never been such alarming statistics in Poland. At the same time, the rate of spread of the disease is of great concern,” Prus said.

She clarified that according to the National Public Health Research Institute in Poland, a thousand cases of infection have been registered since the end of June alone.

“One of the reasons for the increase in statistics was the influx of Ukrainian refugees,” said infectious disease specialist Joanna Zaikovskaya.
