NOTWe are responsible for organizations or associations and independent personalities sharing with all of humanity the universal values of life, equality among human beings, fundamental freedoms of peoples, groups and individuals without discrimination or exclusive, we refuse to allow the crime to be committed in our name.
Faced with the barbarism that fell on the writer Salman Rushdie, August 12thirty years later the killing order issued by Ayatollah Khomeini on the grounds of blasphemy and attack on the sacred, we form our wishes that he may live and that his pen will not dry up.
We consider it our duty to denounce the odious aggression committed against him, in the name of a disfigured Islam, which can only appease its bloodthirsty followers through hatred, blood, death and chaos.
Infamy, dread and dishonor
We refuse to remain silent on these infamies committed in the name of Islam, civilizational heritage common to humanity, which nevertheless admits neither mediator nor Church.
We refuse to mingle our culture, our human values and our names with these furious people who sow terror and dishonour, by silencing with the sword and the crime any discordant voice, any free thought, any cultural creationall innovative breath, all difference and all diversity.
We have waged this same fight in our countries so that the freedoms of conscience, thought, religion, worship, expression, literary, cultural and artistic creation are recognized and respected. We will continue to carry it out everywhere and will not give in to the lurking regression and the spreading hate speech.
