MAINTENANCE – The comedian and his eldest went after their dream by winning the M6 adventure game.

At the end of a very beautiful course, Ines Reg and her sister Anaïs won “Beijing Express: shocking duos” in front of the miss France Rachel Legrain-Trapani and her lover Valentin Léonard. Very close, the two women look back on this extraordinary adventure in which they dreamed of participating since childhood.

TV MAGAZINE. – How did you react when you won the final?
Inès REG. – It was a firework of emotions! We wanted to break down in tears and we couldn’t do it so much everything was mixed up in our head. I didn’t see us going any further than the first stage and, finally, we finished the game!
ANAÏS. – I reviewed all the path traveled with the galleys we went through. I couldn’t believe it, I repeated: “We won? We did it ?”. It was crazy !

What does it mean to you to participate in “Beijing Express” and win?
HAS. – I wanted to prove to myself that I was capable of being there, of surpassing myself and doing it with my sister so that she too surpasses herself, seeing our complicity. I’ve always dreamed of doing this show, but I could never have imagined doing it so well… We experienced sick emotional lifts.
I.- I see us, children, in the apartment of our parents watching the program and saying to each other: “we will participate one day”, knowing very well that not! I confess that I have an extreme, violent, enormous love for my sister. I had no doubts about the bond I had with her, but overcoming these ordeals together is wonderful! We laughed so much…

You never seem to have argued…
I.- Since we were very young, we rarely argue. We are four years apart and we have always been very close. Afterwards, there were “Beijing Express” moments where it was a little harder, but we knew each other so well that all it took was a single glance to say “I will kill you if you continue” so that we understand each other and calm down.

What made the difference in your opinion?
HAS. – Our strength is really our complicity and the trust we have in each other. I don’t necessarily have confidence in myself and, when my sister tells me that I will succeed, I believe her.
I.- I think that our driving force was also the desire for the happiness of the other. I wanted my sister to see the exceptional person she is, to be happy and proud of herself. And she wanted the same for me.

What did you learn about each other?
HAS. – I knew my sister was very strong, because of her career and her life, but when I saw her go through elephants, run or eat bull testicles, I realized that she had great mind!
I.- I have always found my sister to be an incredible person in her daily way of being. I thought I’d find fault with him in difficult times, but it just made me think that I’m lucky to have him.

“At the time of the final, I have the impression of being in a trance, something divine. In the morning, I told him: we are going to win my sister because we want to.

Ines Reg

How did you experience this final, we felt you were very happy…
I.- At the moment of the finale, I have the impression of being in a trance, something divine. In the morning, I told him: we are going to win my sister because we want to. It was so unthinkable that we got that far that, for me, it was no coincidence: the victory was for us! I continued by saying: “There’s no point in stressing, we have to enjoy because it’s an incredible moment in our lives that we will never experience again”. I still have shivers. I was sure of myself!
HAS. – Inès had a smile throughout the final, she was not stressed but super positive, she took the time to enjoy. She was happy and that calmed me down.
I.- It was the best day of our lives and yet we both got married!
HAS. – I also had a child…
I.- Ok, it was the second most beautiful day of your life but for me it’s the best (laughs).

You were facing Rachel and Valentin. Did they scare you?
HAS. – They are formidable competitors because they have the physique and they had won several events. But we shouldn’t think too much about that, but rather tell ourselves that we were going to get there.
I.- In the adventure, we really liked them, they are hilarious. When we met and told each other our adventures, we cried with laughter. They are nice people and we were happy to be in front of them. Afterwards, it’s true that physically, it was impossible to imagine that we could win.

“We were not equal in the face of the game, some are fair play, others less and some are enraged”

Ines Reg

With the other candidates, you seem to have affinities with some and less with others…
I.- We all got along very well. We had two days off during the adventure which allowed us to get to know each other a little better and there was a real bond between everyone. We were all different, I loved this mix. Afterwards, we were just not equal in the face of the game: some are fair play, others less and some are enraged. But that doesn’t take away from the good people they are.

Valerie Trierweiler has, for example, proved formidable. How did you react when you saw that the former First Lady was on the adventure with you?
HAS. – It surprised me, you can’t imagine her as an adventurer with a backpack! I was quite impressed that she accepted. It was great that she did it with Karine, her best friend. Afterwards, they immediately announced the color. They had prepared themselves physically, suddenly, it was really important to them to succeed in sporting events. They talked a lot about their age and they wanted to show that, even older, they were still there. And they did really well!

How did you experience the abandonment of Ryad and Abdallah?
HAS. – Abdallah experienced the elimination of Anne extremely badly and Theo Curin. It upset him. Their last race was complicated, which affected their morale. Suddenly, he explained it to us like that and we understood that he could not make a choice, nor relive the elimination of someone because we are all very linked. It was very moving and complicated to live with.
I.- It was a beautiful meeting, they are two beautiful souls. I find the word “abandonment” pejorative for guys who gave everything and who showed their heart to preserve themselves, but also to preserve us. I admit that when we won, we thought a lot about them. I find them amazing.

Have you all seen each other again?
I. – When I played in Lille, Rachel and Valentin but also Aurore and Jonathan came to see me. We also had a meal with Xavier Domergue. Before the start of the school year, we planned to have a big meal together in memory of this great adventure.

What is your best memory ?
HAS. – My favorite test, which was however the most complicated, is the one with tea. We both outdid ourselves and after that, I told myself that nothing was going to stop us.
I.- Before leaving, I dreaded asking local families for hospitality. I’m super shy and going into people’s homes, disturbing them, asking them to eat when they don’t necessarily have enough to put the table for their family, tortured me. And, finally, it was the most beautiful moments of the adventure. All these encounters have given us strength.

What was the most difficult?
I.- The whole adventure (laughs)! In “Beijing Express”, it’s all in the head. The most difficult thing for me was to arrive with the mentality that I have in my everyday life. It took me a while to adapt before I felt invincible in my head. And then, it was very hot!
HAS. – Having watched all the seasons, I had no idea it was so stressful. We have continuous stress: we are afraid of what will happen to us, of not finding a house, of our place in the race…

“The days and weeks that followed the adventure, we saw life differently. “Beijing Express”, it changes someone”

Ines Reg

How was your return?
HAS. – I am a key account manager and I returned to work the day after my arrival. Coming back to reality was very hard. Since we couldn’t tell anyone, I needed to see my sister to really realize that it had been real.
I.- When we got back, we woke up every morning at 6 a.m. thinking that Stephane Rotenberg was going to appear behind the bed to give us instructions (laughs)! Me, I had time to rest one day and, the next day, I was on the stage of the Zenith of Strasbourg. It was super special. I really wanted to say “You don’t know what I just did, I have to tell you! » The days and weeks that followed the adventure, we saw life differently. “Beijing Express”, it changes someone. We re-registered for the gym… But it only lasted two weeks (laughs).

Did you watch the episodes together?
I.- Yes ! At home with family, friends, neighbours… Nobody believed in us: people stopped us in the street to tell us “I know you’re not going to win but we’re behind you”. We couldn’t wait for them to see the final!
