Vyalbe called the Swiss court that rejected Valieva’s appeal corrupt
President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe called the rejection of the appeal against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to disqualify Kamila Valieva for doping as expected. The Swiss Federal Court, which rejected the appeal, accused the head of the FLGR of corruption.
“It seems to me that this court is also quite corrupt. For me, everything negative associated with these courts and countries is expected. Now the situation is such that you can’t get objectivity from anyone,” she said "RIA Novosti".
The Swiss court did not saw errors in the CAS decision to disqualify Valieva, although at that time she was 15 years old and the athlete had the status of a protected person. The panel considered that the status of a protected person “does not in all” cases require some other treatment.
CAS suspended Valieva for four years for testing positive for doping in January. Because of this, its results at the 2022 Olympics were canceled and Russia went from first to third place.
