The mobile operator VimpelCom (Beeline brand) announced that the company was bought from the Dutch holding Veon. Now it has come under the control of a group of top managers of the organization, headed by CEO Alexander Torbakhov. The transaction amount is estimated at $2.1 billion (130 billion rubles).

As specified, the transaction should be completed in the summer of 2023. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said that the sale of Vimpelcom to the company’s management “is one of the possible scenarios.”

According to the Kommersant newspaper, the sources of financing are not disclosed, and the financial scheme of the deal also remains unclear. The specified $2.1 billion will be paid due to the fact that VimpelCom will take over and repay the debt of Veon Holdings BV, which is held through the National Settlement Depository. It is reported that this will in fact double the Russian company’s own debt burden.
