Utilities prices will increase from December 1, 2022

The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to index tariffs for gas, electricity, water and other housing and communal services from December 1, 2022, and not from July 1, 2023, as previously planned.

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation announced an early increase in tariffs for housing and communal services. However, the department hastened to clarify that in July 2023, the planned indexation will no longer be carried out.

“The next indexation of utility tariffs will take place only on July 1, 2024,” TASS quoted the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development as saying.

The postponement is explained by the need to ensure the uninterrupted operation and development of the housing and communal services infrastructure, which includes, among other things, the renewal of heating mains, water pipelines and other communal facilities.

So from December 1, Russians are waiting for an increase in tariffs for water, electricity, heat, gas and municipal solid waste.

“The maximum level of tariff indexation from December 1, 2022 for the population across the country will not exceed 9%. “In other words, the average monthly payment for one family of three per month, with the implementation of these tariff solutions, will increase by 324 rubles, from July 1, 2024 - by 248 rubles per month and from July 1, 2025 - by 221 rubles per month " .

Each specific region of the country will independently set the rate indexation value. And since earlier “on the ground” there were excesses towards unreasonable overstatement of tariffs, this time the Federal Antimonopoly Service will make sure that this does not happen.
