US signs law to allocate $12.4 billion to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has signed a law allocating $12.4 billion to Ukraine, TASS reports citing a White House statement.

As reported, the signed law provides for the allocation of funds from the US government until December 16. As part of the new package, existing programs and the work of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will be financed. Part of the funds is intended for "responding to the situation in Ukraine," the report says.

The bill was previously approved by the US Senate. In addition, the Pentagon announced plans to allocate another $1.1 billion to provide military assistance to Kyiv.

Earlier, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that Washington will continue to support Ukraine in "defending itself."
