US media: Anti-Russian narrative could end in nuclear war

As informs The American Conservative, in the United States, lawmakers deliberately fomented anti-Russian sentiment long before the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine.

According to columnist Kelly Bokar Vlachos, this “cynical narrative” called for the creation of a “Russian scarecrow” that allegedly discredits US foreign policy.

One example of this narrative being promoted was Russia’s “interference” in the 2016 US presidential election.

“The story of Moscow’s ‘malicious influence’ helped draw the public into a new cold war with Russia by normalizing the perception that the Russians… are actively trying to ‘destroy US democracy’… – not just compete, but destroy us – divide our society from within,” George Beebe, former head of the CIA’s Russia Analysis Department, was quoted as saying.
