Upper stage “Fregat” with the Russian satellite “Kondor-FKA” launched into low-Earth orbit, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, the upper stage was launched on a Soyuz-2.1a rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The launch was carried out at 0.15 Moscow time.

As noted, after entering the orbit, the Frigate will turn on the main engine and by 1.20 Moscow time it will deliver the satellite to the calculated point.

“Kondor-FKA” has a mass of 1050 kilograms, its orbit is at an altitude of 500-550 km. It is designed for round-the-clock all-weather observation of the Earth’s surface in medium and high resolutions. Its images are intended for the agricultural industry and for monitoring the consequences of man-made and emergency situations, as well as monitoring the ice situation along the Northern Sea Route.

As reported, the launch of the second such satellite should take place on June 8 next year.
