UN Security Council to discuss referendums in former territories of Ukraine on September 27

Discussion by the UN Security Council of referendums in the former territories of Ukraine will take place on September 27, the agency’s secretariat said.

Referendums in joining the Russian Federation are held in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the territories of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions not controlled by Kyiv.

The initiative to discuss this issue in the UN Security Council was made by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya. He sent a corresponding request to Nicolas de Riviere, the Permanent Representative of France, which chairs the Security Council in September. Among other requests from Kyiv to the UN is to provide information on the situation in the above territories.

The meeting is scheduled for September 27 at 22:00 (Moscow time).
