Ukraine banned the export of goods to Russia at the legislative level

The government of Ukraine completely banned the export of goods to Russia until the end of martial law. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

“It is supposed to prohibit the export of goods outside the customs territory of Ukraine under foreign economic contracts, trade or destination country, which is the Russian Federation,” the Ministry of Economy said.

Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko called this decision a continuation of sanctions pressure against Russia. According to her, after February 24, the export of goods to Russia was actually stopped. “Now it is enshrined at the legal level,” she said. The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine assured that the decision would not entail negative consequences for the economy.

By data The State Customs Service of Ukraine, in 2021, the trade turnover between Russia and Ukraine increased by 38.7% and amounted to $10.09 billion. Exports from Ukraine to Russia increased by 26.5% and amounted to $3.44 billion.
