Ufa court has already fined a third hockey player for trying to buy a military ID

Today, October 3, in the Leninsky District Court of Ufa, the criminal case against the 25-year-old forward of HC Yugra Vladislav Lukin ended. Judge Svetlana Zainullina granted the motion of the hockey player’s lawyer, reclassified the athlete’s actions as attempted bribery in order to obtain a military ID without actually completing military service and a driver’s license without passing exams on a large scale (part 3 of article 30 and paragraph “b” part 4 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and imposed a fine of 2.2 million rubles on him as a punishment.

During the debate of the parties, the state prosecution asked to recognize Vladislav Lukin guilty on both counts and to impose a fine of 3 million rubles.

After the verdict was passed, the hockey player’s lawyer Sergei Kozhevnikov said that he considered the court’s decision humane. “The court partly accepted the arguments to which we referred, partly not. Whether we appeal or not, we will decide on the principal. The amount is quite serious, but at the same time commensurate with the amount that was charged to my principal. In terms of legality and justice, we will receive a written verdict, we will decide, ”he said.

In early September, the Leninsky District Court of Ufa sentenced two more hockey players, pupils of the Bashkir Salavat Yulaev, a 25-year-old striker of the St. Petersburg HC SKA Mikhail Vorobyov and 22 year old goalkeeper Anvar Suleymanov. They were also reclassified as an attempt to give a bribe for a military ID. Mikhail Vorobyov was fined 2 million rubles, and Anvar Suleymanov was sentenced to five years of probation.
