The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) did not satisfy the demand of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to disqualify the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Petrakov for his public statements in which he called for excommunicating all Russians from participating in international competitions, and also stated that he was ready to take in hands weapons and “kill enemies”.

However, UEFA reacted to the appeal of the RFU: Petrakov was given a warning and a small fine was imposed on him.

The head of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), Andriy Pavelko, announced on the social network on Tuesday what punishment was applied to the coach.

The day before, it was reported that the RFU sent a letter to the UEFA leadership demanding that Petrakov be disqualified. According to the RFU, his comments violate the codes of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA, which prohibit any discrimination against the country and aimed at promoting football “in the spirit of peace.”

On February 28, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams will not be able to play in European competitions, and the Russian team will not be able to play in the 2022 World Cup.
