two Pakistani competitors missing after Commonwealth Games in England

Two Pakistani boxers disappeared into the wild, without passports, at the end of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (England), a team official told the local press in Karachi on Thursday.

Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan did not show up for the appointment to return to their country. "We learned later that they had left the athletes' village without collecting their passports," Pakistan Boxing Federation secretary Nasir Tang said. Pakistani sports authorities have alerted the British police about this double disappearance.

Baloch, seven times champion of Pakistan, was engaged in Birmingham in the welterweight category but was beaten in the first round by the Indian Shiva Thapa. Committed to heavyweight, Khan lost in the round of 16 against Englishman Lewis Williams. Pakistan won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals at this 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games.
