Turchak announced the desire of deputies and senators to participate in a special operation

Many deputies from United Russia and senators expressed their desire to take a direct part in the special operation in Ukraine after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia, declared Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Andrei Turchak.

“Since yesterday, I have been receiving a stream of appeals from deputies of our faction in the State Duma and senators who want to go to the front. And from our regional colleagues too,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Turchak promised to soon name the names of all colleagues who expressed such a desire. Many of them, he added, have been in the NMD zone since February, organizing a humanitarian mission, helping military personnel and civilians.

“There can be no exceptions in matters of protecting the Motherland. For no one, regardless of rank, merit and position. The desire to go to the front, postponing a deputy or senatorial mandate, is serving the Fatherland in the current circumstances, ”he concluded.

According to Art. 18 of the law on mobilization training and mobilization in Russia, a deferment from conscription for military service for mobilization is granted to members of the Federation Council and deputies of the State Duma.

Former State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin declaredthat deputies and employees of the apparatus of the State Duma, who have “military skills”, will be able to participate in the SVO as volunteers. “There is no reservation – let’s proceed from this,” he said at a meeting of the Duma.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov (United Russia) followed the speaker and said that the deputies had no reservations for mobilization: “The deputies will do everything to ensure that the tasks are completed, either here or with arms in hand. On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in the country. Russians called up for military service by mobilization “will receive the status, payments and all social guarantees of military personnel serving under a contract,” Putin promised.

Later, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained that those in the reserve were subject to conscription under partial mobilization, he estimated their number at 300,000 people. At the same time, he stressed that there is no talk of mobilizing students or conscripts.

On the same day, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko announced that all benefits for participants in the special operation, including medical and tax benefits, would be extended to those who fall under partial mobilization. On behalf of the president, amendments to the legislation are being prepared to ensure labor guarantees for participants in a special military operation, she added.
