"Traktor" took revenge on "Spartak"
Traktor started their Moscow trip with a 3:2 shootout win over Spartak. Andrey Svetlakov and Maxim Shabanov scored goals. Note that both converted their attempts in the shootout. Thus, the “black and whites” took the “red and whites” for their home defeat a week ago.
There were some changes in the composition of the Chelyabinsk team. Artem Shuchinov and Mikhail Kotlyarevsky dropped out. About Kotlyarevsky, Benoit Groux said at the post-match press conference that he missed the match due to a coaching decision. Sergei Telegin and Danil Yurtaikin returned to the ice. Zach Fucale took his place in goal.
The Black and Whites started the match well, created several dangerous chances and earned the majority. It seemed that a goal for the visitors was brewing. But it turned out the other way around: Zach Fucale earned an optional deletion and, in a 4-on-4 game, Spartak scored after a throw from Ivan Morozov. But in the 20th minute, Traktor still equalized the score. Andrey Svetlakov successfully substituted himself for Steven Kaempfer's throw.
The hosts started the second period stronger, but the visitors scored. Maxim Shabanov broke his long scoring silence by finishing off Artem Blazhievsky's cool pass. But Spartak quickly recovered after a quick counterattack and a beautiful throw by Mikhail Maltsev.
In the third period, the teams played carefully, trying not to miss at least a draw in regulation time. Both had chances, but no execution.
Overtime also took place in “safe” mode, but the shootouts turned out to be extremely interesting. During the series, Traktor was behind by two attempts, but equalized the score and then snatched the victory. Vitaly Kravtsov, Vladimir Tkachev, Andrey Svetlakov and Maxim Shabanov accounted for the implemented shootouts for the Chelyabinsk team. The author of the goal and the winning shootout even gave an interview to Match TV after the meeting. In it, Maxim noted the team actions and the merit of everyone in this victory.
