In Russia, the plant for the production of cars will stop working Toyota Petersburg, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

“Company “Toyota Motor” closes the assembly site in the city of St. Petersburg. At the same time, it will ensure the fulfillment of all social obligations to the team, as well as significant additional compensation payments. In addition, the company will retain after-sales service for cars of the brand Toyota and Lexus and support for the dealer network,” the ministry said in a statement (cit. according to RIA Novosti).

Previously about this informed Kommersant, citing sources. It was clarified that since March, the plant has been continuously idle due to supply problems after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. As a result, it was decided to stop the operation of the enterprise in Shushary due to the inability to establish regular supplies of components. At the same time, after the sale of the asset, production Toyota the factory will not be renewed.

The Toyota plant in Russia operated for 15 years, production was launched in 2007. It was the first assembly plant to start work in St. Petersburg – now Nissan and Nissan plants are also based in the city. Hyundaithe release of which is also suspended due to logistical problems.
