The World Bank has improved the forecast for the fall in Russia's GDP

In 2022 and 2023, Russia's GDP, according to report World Bank (WB) will decrease by 4.5% and 3.6% respectively. Earlier, the organization predicted that the decline in the country's GDP this year will be 8.9%.

The document notes that the Russian economy will return to growth only in 2024 - it will be approximately 1.6%. The WB also believes that, despite the partial prevention of economic collapse in Russia, the country may face a growing effect of Western sanctions.

The entry of Russian troops into Ukraine in the report of the organization is considered as an event that led to the largest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War and had a negative impact on production volumes in Europe.

The World Bank also adjusted the forecast for the fall of the Ukrainian economy: by the end of 2022, Ukrainian GDP may shrink by 35%. Previously, the possible economic downturn in Ukraine in the WB was estimated at 45.1%.
