The Vatican announced the desire of Pope Francis to meet with Patriarch Kirill

Pope Francis wants to meet with Patriarch Kirill, but such a meeting should be organized after the end of hostilities in Ukraine. This was stated by the Secretary for Relations with States of the Vatican, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher.

According to him, Francis wants to meet with the patriarch not during the hostilities, so that "nothing distracts from theological issues." Therefore, there is no talk of organizing such a meeting yet.

Gallagher added that the dialogue with the Moscow Patriarchate continues, including contacts with the head of the department for external church relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk.
