The sanctions imposed on Russia do not interfere with the export of food and fertilizers, said US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas Greenfield.
She made the corresponding statement at a meeting of the UN Security Council. According to her, the current level of agricultural exports from the Russian Federation is at the same level as before the start of the special military operation. Therefore, according to her, statements that sanctions prevent Russia from supplying grain and fertilizer abroad do not correspond to reality.
She also said that the US made exceptions for the export of this type of product, and “it’s not about the sanctions.”
Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Western countries have two months to lift all sanctions that impede agricultural exports from the Russian Federation, and the poorest countries received only about 3% of supplies as part of a food deal, and not 65-66%, as stated in the Security Council.
