The plan of consultations signed by Serbia and Russia between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries caused displeasure of the US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill. He demanded to explain on what grounds the document was adopted.

US Ambassador Hill said he would like to know what kind of agreement Moscow and Belgrade signed at a time when there were “good negotiations” between the US and Serbia at the UN session.

According to Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, the republic came under strong pressure from the European Union after President Aleksandar Vučić’s speech at the UN. Now the pressure has intensified because of a document that has not even been adopted by the government of the country and has no legal force.

Serbia considers it necessary to maintain friendly relations with Russia and China when joining the European Union and against the backdrop of developing relations in the United States. Belgrade does not want to join military-political blocs and intends to maintain military neutrality.

Former Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic informedthat the document on foreign policy coordination with Russia repeats the 1996 agreement.
