The United States expressed readiness to negotiate with Russia on a new START treaty

Washington is ready to start negotiations with the Russian Federation as soon as possible on the issue of concluding a new treaty that could replace START-3. This was stated by US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

According to the diplomat, the resumption of START-3 inspections would be the most important part of cooperation with Russia. Thomas-Greenfield also expressed hope for continued cooperation with the Russian Federation in this direction.

The US Permanent Representative emphasized that the main goal of the mechanism capable of replacing START-3 should be the further reduction of strategic nuclear weapons together with the Russian Federation.
