Eurostat: France is the most dependent on uranium from Russia
According to the results of the last year and a half, France is the most dependent on Russian uranium among all unfriendly countries. This is the conclusion reached by experts from Eurostat and the UN platform Comtrade, writes RIA Novosti.
According to published information, from January 2023 to June 2024, France, Germany, South Korea and the United States of America purchased enriched uranium from Russia among unfriendly countries. However, France turned out to be the most dependent on Russian uranium - over 1.5 years, 60.5% of all deliveries went to the Russian Federation, and the total cost was 428.6 million dollars.
South Korea was in second place in terms of dependence on Russian uranium – Russia provided a third of the imports – for 603.1 million dollars. The United States closed the top three, having purchased 26.7% of uranium from Moscow for a total of 1.7 billion dollars.
Let us recall that on September 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for thinking about restricting exports from Russia strategic raw materials – uranium or titanium.
The head of state stressed that this should not be “to one’s own detriment.”
