The UK will never recognize the results of referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, said Kingdom Foreign Minister James Cleverley.
“We will never recognize the results of any of these fraudulent referendums or attempts to annex sovereign Ukrainian territory,” Cleverly wrote on Twitter.
The day before, on September 20, the dates for holding referendums in the territories of the LPR and DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions were approved. They will be held from 23 to 27 September.
The decision was made after the public chambers of the LPR and DPR separately appealed to the heads of the republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin on September 19, the next day the public council of the Kherson region addressed the head of the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) with a similar request for a referendum Volodymyr Saldo, as well as members of the movement “We are with Russia” – to the head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration Yevgeny Balitsky.
Against the background of these events, President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia today, in which he supported the idea of holding referendums. In addition, he announced a partial mobilization in Russia in order to protect the territorial integrity of the country and its sovereignty, the corresponding decree has already been published and entered into force.
