Estonian retail chains record the population's rush demand for power generators after the country's Prime Minister Kai Kallas announced possible power outages, the state broadcasting portal ERR reports.

Earlier, Kallas, speaking on national television, warned of potential power outages. According to her, everyone in Estonia, both in government agencies and in business, should be ready for shutdowns in Estonia, this also applies to the population of the country.

Sales of electric generators are higher than in the last four months, Bauhof, a large retail chain, said. In one of the stores, more than 100 units were sold per day.

Demand for dry food, pet food, as well as hygiene products, batteries and flashlights has also increased, ERR said.
