State Duma deputy from United Russia Oleg Morozov said that changes should be made to the legislation that would allow the seizure of cars from citizens who abandoned cars at the border and left Russia.

According to him, cars should be transferred to state ownership after some time, for example, a month.

“It is necessary to make changes to the law, according to which the cars of those who left the country will become state property. For example, if the vehicle was not claimed within a month after the owner crossed the border,” Morozov said.

He clarified that the owner of the abandoned car must present his rights to the vehicle in person. This measure should make it possible to seize abandoned cars.

Earlier, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin expressed his opinion on those who left Russia after the signing of a decree on partial mobilization. The politician criticized such actions of citizens and even offered to transfer their cars abandoned at the borders to the families of mobilized reservists.
