The State Duma adopted a law on the experimental sale of prescription drugs on the Internet

The State Duma in the second and third readings adopted amendments to the law on the circulation of medicines, according to which prescription drugs are allowed for online sale. The experiment will run for three years from March 2023 in Moscow, Moscow and Belgorod regions.

In explanatory material notedthat the law does not apply to drugs containing narcotic and psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as strong substances, radiopharmaceuticals, immunobiological drugs, the storage regime of which is below +15 ° C, the alcohol content of which exceeds 25%, and also medicines manufactured by pharmacies.

The bill provides that when buying medicines online, the identity of the patient will be checked for compliance with the data specified in the prescription.

President Vladimir Putin instructed to conduct an experiment on the electronic sale of prescription drugs in Russia. Formerly Ministry of Economy developed amendments to the law “On the Circulation of Medicines”, according to which prescription drugs can be sold online. In April 2020, against the backdrop of the spread of coronavirus infection in Russia, remote sales of over-the-counter medicines were allowed.
