The State Duma adopted a law on credit holidays for mobilized citizens


Deputies of the State Duma in the second and third readings adopted law, according to which a borrower called up for military service on mobilization will be able to qualify for credit holidays on consumer and mortgage loans for the duration of service. Credit holidays are provided for those mobilized within the framework of partial mobilization, as well as contractors and volunteers.

As part of a credit holiday, it will be possible to completely suspend the fulfillment of obligations or reduce the amount of payments during the grace period. The term of the loan holiday is determined by the borrower. However, it should not exceed the period of military service of the mobilized (or the period of participation in a military operation for the troops of the National Guard) plus 30 days. The deadline for the start of the grace period is September 21, 2022.

Credit holidays apply to family members of military personnel. An application can be submitted to the creditor no later than December 31, 2023. In the event of the death or disability of the first group of the group, the loan obligations are terminated for the serviceman and his family.

The bill on credit holidays was submitted to the State Duma two days after the announcement of partial mobilization. Initially, it was assumed that it would apply only to conscripts and contract soldiers. As a result of the discussion after the adoption of the bill in the first reading of its distributed and for volunteers.

In addition, today the bailiffs temporarily suspended cases of debt collection from citizens who fell under partial mobilization. An application for suspension of debt collection can be submit right at the military office.
