The head of the ROC Pozdnyakov: the signing of political declarations by Russian athletes is unacceptable
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) considers it unacceptable for Russian athletes to sign any political declarations. About it informed ROC head Stanislav Pozdnyakov in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, the IOC admitted that it is possible to return athletes from Russia to international competitions, but on the condition that they sign papers condemning the Russian special operation.
“We will conduct individual work with our sports federations on the inadmissibility of accepting any proposals from international organizations that contradict the Olympic Charter,” Pozdnyakov wrote.
He said that on Thursday a meeting of the Executive Committee of the ROC was held, during which the main task was discussed - "to restore justice." According to Pozdnyakov, the goal of the ROC is to return athletes to international competitions with the flag, anthem and other attributes of the country.
