The deputies of the State Council - Khase of Adygea, during a secret ballot, elected the current head of Adygea Murat Kumpilov for a second term unanimously, reports "RIA News".

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented three candidates for the post of head of the republic for consideration by the regional parliament. They included, in addition to the current head Kumpilov, deputies of the State Council Yevgeny Grunin (LDPR) and Alexander Loboda (SRZP). During the voting, all 49 deputies present supported Kumpilov's candidacy, that is, he was unanimously elected head of the republic.

The inauguration of the elected head of the republic will take place on 11 September.

Since 2016, direct elections of the head of the region have been canceled in the republic. Parties submit candidates to the President of Russia, from which he selects three candidates.

Putin appointed Kumpilov as acting head of Adygea in 2017 after the expiration of the term of office of the previous head, Aslan Tkhakushinov. In September 2017, the State Council - Khase of Adygea approved him for the post of head of the republic.

Murat Kumpilov was born on February 27, 1973 in the village of Ulyap (Adygea). In April 2008, he became acting vice-premier of the republic, since May of the same year he was acting prime minister. He became prime minister on May 28, 2008. On September 28, 2016, he was relieved of his post in connection with the election of a deputy of the State Council-Khase, from October 3, 2016 he was its chairman.

Three-day voting takes place from 9 to 11 September in 82 regions of Russia. As Ella Pamfilova, chairman of the Central Election Commission, reported earlier, more than 4,700 election campaigns at the regional and local levels will be held. Direct elections of governors are held in 14 regions of the country, legislative assemblies are formed in six constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and deputies of administrative centers are elected in twelve. In addition, during the voting will be determined with local governments at various levels.
