The Novgorod regional court dismissed Yabloko in a lawsuit against competitors in the gubernatorial elections

The Novgorod Regional Court denied Yabloko representative Anna Cherepanova a claim against five candidates for the post of governor of the region, including Andrei Nikitin, the current head of the region. This was reported to Kommersant by Ms. Cherepanova herself.

In her statement of claim, in particular, it was said that the candidates nominated from the Pensioners' Party, A Just Russia - For Truth, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, as well as Governor Andrei Nikitin (United Russia), who is running for a new term, agreed and distributed among themselves signatures of municipal deputies required to pass the municipal filter, while collecting an excessive number of them. As a result, Anna Cherepanova managed to collect only 14 signatures instead of the required 114, and she was denied registration as a candidate for governor.

As Ms. Cherepanova told Kommersant, the judge immediately ruled out the requirement to declare illegal the joint actions (conspiracy) of five candidates to collect signatures of municipal deputies. As a result, the court refused to recognize the refusal of Yabloko to register as illegal. Anna Cherepanova intends to appeal this decision to the First Court of Appeal (located in Moscow) and has already filed a private complaint. “We also plan to submit an application to the Investigative Committee under Art. 141 of the Criminal Code (obstruction of the exercise of electoral rights of citizens) in relation to all five registered candidates,” she added.

Earlier in the comments for Kommersant, Ms. Cherepanova's opponents denied allegations of collusion. She also filed complaints with the election commission and the prosecutor's office, but both bodies found no violations.
