The Ministry of Justice declared Pavel Chikov and Ilya Varlamov foreign agents

Human rights activist Pavel Chikov and blogger Ilya Varlamov have been declared foreign agents. About it informs press service of the Ministry of Justice of Russia. Also included in the register are the Parni Plus/Parni+ website about LGBT relations, Svetlana Lada-Rus (Peunova), the leader of the All-Russian political party Volya, liquidated for extremism, Bogdan Bakaleyko, a political scientist, and a former Dozhd journalist Ruslan Aisin.

The Ministry of Justice cites the following grounds for recognizing these persons as foreign agents:

  • Ilya Varlamov disseminated false information about the decisions made by public authorities and their policies, received support from foreign sources;
  • Pavel Chikov disseminated unreliable information about decisions made by public authorities, participated in the creation and distribution of materials by foreign agents;
  • Bohdan Bakaleyko disseminated messages created by foreign agents, participated in the creation of materials by foreign agents, disseminated negative information about the activities of state authorities, spoke out against the special operation in Ukraine;
  • Ruslan Aisin disseminated through foreign publications unreliable information about the decisions taken by the state bodies of the Russian Federation, spoke out against the special operation in Ukraine;
  • Svetlana Lada-Rus called for a fight against the current government, opposed the special operation in Ukraine, formed a negative attitude towards military service and public service in general. Lives outside of Russia, is on the federal and international wanted list;
  • The association of persons “Parni Plus/Parni+” carried out activities to promote LGBT relations, which is contrary to state policy; The association distributed messages and materials of foreign agents.
