The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed to recognize the sports supplement as a potent substance

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia proposed to add 12 more anabolics to the list of potent substances. The corresponding decision was published on portal draft normative legal acts. In particular, the list may include the substance HGH Frag 176-191, a peptide that stimulates fat burning.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that this substance is actively promoted and used in the sports environment to increase energy expenditure and accelerate the reduction of adipose tissue in the body. According to the agency, if the allowable dosage of HGH Frag 176-191 is exceeded, “it can cause significant harm to the life and health of the consumer.”

It is also proposed to include in the list of potent substances: atamestane, androstandione, 6alpha-methyl-androst-4-en-3,17-dione, testolactone (banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA), trendione, formestane (banned by WADA), chloromethylandrostenediol. In addition, they want to add psychostimulants arecoline, DMBA (banned for circulation in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Brazil, also banned by WADA), octodrine, 2-phenylpropan-1-amine to the list.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs called doping "one of the main problems of modern world sport", which "undermines confidence in the competitive process and fair competition, and also damages the health of athletes." “The criminal business for the manufacture and sale of potent substances has become firmly integrated into the criminal environment. Anabolic steroids, as well as psychostimulants contained in dietary supplements and pre-workout complexes, produced under various brands both abroad and in the Russian Federation, are among the most sought-after and in demand on the black market for ADD," the agency said.

Since May 23, Russia has expanded the list of potent substances, the sale of which is subject to criminal punishment. Ten items were added to the list, including growth hormone somatotropin, pagoclone, ovandroton. The circulation of these substances is punishable under Art. 234 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking in potent or toxic substances for the purpose of sale), the maximum punishment is eight years in prison.
