The Ministry of Internal Affairs expands the list of banned doping drugs: growth hormone will be banned

If the dosage is exceeded, its use can lead to death.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to toughen the fight against doping. The department has identified more than 200 communities in social networks that sell drugs for “dirty” sports victories from under the floor.

The security forces once again admitted that manufacturers of illicit drugs bypass them at the corners. This time, doping was in the focus of attention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The department said that the rapid development of sports pharmacology allows the synthesis of new types of doping substances that reproduce the effects of substances, including those already included in the list of potent substances (ADV).

As noted in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the most in demand on the black market for ADD are anabolic steroids, as well as psychostimulants contained in dietary supplements and pre-workout complexes. Most of these drugs are produced abroad. In Russia, clandestine laboratories are engaged in the manufacture of doping.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs told about the channels through which doping is sold. Traders of pills for easy sports victories actively promote their products on specialized Internet resources and social networks through numerous electronic trading platforms, assuring consumers of the safety of the products offered and its high efficiency. In the VKontakte social network alone, the detectives counted more than 200 thematic communities with an audience of many thousands associated with the promotion of the use and active discussion of various types of anabolic steroids and other doping substances, as well as containing information about online stores selling them.

In February 2022, the police closed one such network of Internet sites, the organizer of which was selling anabolic steroids. Parcels with substances were sent by mail both in Russia and abroad. During the searches of the premises rented by the attacker, more than 200 kg of ADD were found. In total, the operatives seized over 300 parcels with “anabolics”.

Now the Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the purpose of which is to supplement the current list of prohibited drugs with new variations of doping substances. It is planned to add seven anabolic steroids and four psychostimulants to the list.

A substance that is a fragment of growth hormone will also appear on the banned list. As the developers of the document explained, this substance is actively promoted in the sports environment to increase energy consumption and accelerate the reduction of adipose tissue in the body. “This substance stimulates lipolysis 12 times more powerful than somatotropin, already included in the ADD list, which, if the permissible dosage is exceeded and its circulation is not properly controlled, can cause significant harm to the life and health of the consumer,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned.
