Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov said that the share of Russian wine in the country’s stores reaches almost 50%, writes TASS.

“Every year, the percentage of representation of Russian wine in stores is growing. Today, according to various estimates, it reaches 50%. I think that taking into account the increase in supply, taking into account the fact that there are more and more manufacturers, this percentage will grow,” said Yevtukhov. The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade believes that the popularity of domestic wines has grown due to the days of Russian wines held in retail chains. According to him, wines produced in Russia “began to get a worthy place on the shelf.”

Yevtukhov also recalled the previously adopted amendments to the so-called law on wine fairs, which allows Russian wine to be sold at these sites. The deputy head of the department believes that this opportunity contributes not only to sales growth, but also to acquaintance of Russians with domestic wine.

In December 2021, the State Duma accepted the law on specialized wine-making fairs, within the framework of which the sale of wine-making products and its tasting will be carried out. Then the press service of the State Duma noted that such fairs would stimulate the promotion and popularization of Russian wines.

Last month, Vedomosti, citing Rosalkogolregulirovanie wrotethat in Russia in the first nine months of 2022, 9.4 million decalitres (dal) of sparkling wine were produced. This is 27% more than domestic companies produced for the same period a year earlier: then 7.4 million decalitres of such drinks were bottled. The increase in the production of such drinks is associated with a reduction in imports and the displacement of wine drinks from the market, explains Andrey Grigoriev, partner at Double Magnum Wine Consulting. According to Roskachestvo, 7.5 million decalitres of sparkling wines were imported into Russia last year.
