The American chain of fast food restaurants McDonald’s has decided to resume work in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on social networks.

“As you know, we had long negotiations and convinced McDonald’s to resume work in Ukraine. I am grateful to the management of the company for their decision,” he said.

First, McDonald’s outlets in Kyiv and western Ukraine will resume work, preparations for the opening will take some time, he added. According to Kuleba, the resumption of McDonald’s is, first of all, a signal to international business that it is possible to continue working in Ukraine.

McDonald’s suspended operations in Ukraine on February 24, citing security concerns amid the ongoing Russian special operation.

In Russia, McDonald’s suspended operations on March 14 this year, but 133 franchised outlets continued to operate until early June. In May, it became known that the American corporation sold its Russian business to the former co-owner of the Yuzhkuzbassugol coal company from Novokuznetsk, Alexander Govor, who managed the franchise of 25 chain restaurants in Siberia. June 12, the first 15 restaurants of the chain resumed work under the new brand “Vkusno – and that’s it.”
