The Ministry of Finance recommended that Russians save rubles and scarce goods

According to Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev, under the circumstances, Russians should not keep their savings in the currencies of unfriendly countries. He noted that the best way not to lose savings is to make savings in rubles and “friendly” currencies or buy rare imported goods, stressing that he “does not know very much about this.”

“We must either save in the national currency, or in a friendly currency, or, if this seems inappropriate and inconvenient, then in any case, think about buying some components that may then be inaccessible to us. Because it’s probably impossible to be sure of rhythmic deliveries of whatever it is, ”said the deputy minister to RIA Novosti.

Although Mr. Moiseev "doesn't know much" about savings by buying imported goods, he heard that "a lot of people do this" in government meetings.

According to VTB, at the end of 2022, the share of foreign currency in the portfolio of classic savings of Russians will fall to 10%. This is two times less than at the beginning of the year.
