The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation proposes to establish minimum retail prices (MRP) for all alcohol, including still wine and beer, said Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov. According to Izvestiathe minimum retail price for still wines may be less than 239 rubles.
“We propose to expand the practice of applying the MRP, that is, to give the government the right to establish such a minimum for all types of alcoholic products, including still wines and beer. And then, depending on the situation, the government will decide how such a right should be implemented,” Mr. Sazanov said.
The Ministry of Agriculture clarified to the publication that the issue of introducing the MRP for still wines has already been discussed. Nevertheless, it can be considered again, but for this it is necessary to work out this issue with the professional community, the department noted. If this initiative is supported, relevant regulations will be prepared by industry experts.
In September, the Ministry of Finance proposed to raise the price of alcohol with a strength of more than 28% from 2023. From the order of the department it followed that the minimum price for vodka would increase by 7.7%, to 281 rubles. for a bottle of 0.5 liters, for brandy – by 7.8%, up to 375 rubles, for cognac – by 7.7%, up to 517 rubles. Later, the department proposed to increase the cost of sparkling wines from 169 rubles. up to 239 rubles
