The Ministry of Education and Science has approved the inclusion of an oral part in the Russian language exam for migrants
The Ministry of Education and Science supported the idea of the deputy head of the New People faction, Sardana Avksentieva, to introduce an oral part into the Russian language exam for labor migrants. This was stated in the response of Deputy Minister Konstantin Mogilevsky, who cites TASS.
“At the same time, in order to implement these proposals, it is necessary to amend the regulations on conducting the exam, approved by the government decree... For foreign citizens applying for a work permit or patent, the exam in Russian as a foreign language is conducted in written form,” Mr. Mogilevsky reminded.
Since 2014, foreigners arriving in Russia to work are required to pass an exam in the Russian language, the basics of legislation and the history of the country. Without this, they cannot obtain a work permit, a residence permit or citizenship. In July, the Ministry of Education and Science reportedthat the share of migrants who failed the exams has increased 10-fold since January. From 2025, for labor migrants must earn register of controlled persons.
