The command of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh resolved the incidents related to the violation of the ceasefire regime, there were no violations of the line of contact, reported Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry noted that over the past 24 hours, four violations of the ceasefire regime by the armed forces of Azerbaijan were recorded in the region, as a result of which two servicemen of Nagorno-Karabakh were killed and 14 more were injured.

“The command of the Russian peacekeepers, in cooperation with the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, these incidents have been resolved. There were no violations of the line of contact between the parties,” the Defense Ministry said.

The day before, the Armenian Foreign Ministry accused Azerbaijan of violating trilateral agreements and called on “the international community to take measures aimed at curbing the aggressive behavior and actions of Azerbaijan and launching the necessary international mechanisms for this.”

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, in turn, claims that on the morning of August 3, Armenian armed formations fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the Lachin region, as a result of which a conscript soldier died. In response, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces carried out the “Retribution” operation, they took control of Gyrkhgyz, Sarybaba and a number of other heights along the Karabakh ridge of the Lesser Caucasus mountain range. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan once again called for the disarmament of the Armenian contingent in the conflict zone.

Today in the Kremlin urged Baku and Yerevan to implement trilateral agreements on Karabakh. This topic may be touched upon during tomorrow’s meeting between the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of the Russian state.

On November 9, 2020, Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by Russia, signed an agreement that ended the war in Nagorno-Karabakh that began on September 27, 2020. Baku and Yerevan agreed on the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of the dead. Under the agreement, Armenian troops were withdrawn from the region, and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic liberated a number of regions of Azerbaijan. The observance of the ceasefire and the security of the so-called Lachin corridor from Armenia to Karabakh until 2025 is monitored by Russian peacekeepers.
