Communication between Russian President Vladimir and Chinese President Xi Jinping will begin on March 20, they will talk tête-à-tête over an informal lunch. Official talks are scheduled for March 21. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“Communication of the President [России] and the President of the People’s Republic of China will start on March 20 in the afternoon. It will be one-on-one communication, there will be an informal lunch, and on March 21, there will be a day of negotiations. But I will not go into details further, because my colleague [помощник президента России Юрий] Ushakov plans to hold a special briefing dedicated to this visit,” Peskov told reporters.

When asked if press statements were expected, the spokesman replied positively. At the briefing, journalists also asked Peskov what Russia’s priorities are in the negotiations and whether China’s peace plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict will be discussed. Answering these questions, Peskov urged to wait for Ushakov’s briefing.

March 17 Kremlin informedthat Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Moscow on March 20-22, where he will hold talks with Vladimir Putin. It is expected that within the framework of the talks the issues of further development of relations of “comprehensive” partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China will be touched upon. The leaders of the two states will also discuss the deepening of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the international arena. At the same time, as noted in the Kremlin, a number of important bilateral documents will be signed. Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia was also confirmed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
