The Independent: the number of Ukrainian refugees in Britain increased by 22%

Newspaper The Independent reported that over the past month in the UK, the number of refugees from Ukraine increased by 22%, who, as homeless people, turn to local authorities for help.

According to the publication, 1915 Ukrainian families have turned to local councils for help since February this year. It is clarified that all these families are homeless or are at risk of being left homeless. At the same time, in the last month alone, applications were received from 350 families.

British MP Leila Moran said the numbers are "shocking". She called on the government to take immediate action and added that if action is not taken, then the British authorities "may break the promise they made to the Ukrainian people."

British charities added that the problem will worsen in the "coming months" as agreements with landlords under the "Houses for Ukraine" program come to an end.
