The HRC proposed to increase the military age for naturalized foreigners to 50 years

The head of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of Russia, Valery Fadeev, said that for foreigners who have received Russian citizenship, it is necessary to increase the draft age to 45-50 years. At the same time, he clarified that in this case, foreigners who have received Russian citizenship will not be immediately mobilized, since “this would be discrimination.”

“The Constitution says that the defense of the Fatherland is the duty and obligation of a citizen of the Russian Federation, making no distinction between those who received citizenship by birth and those who were naturalized. It is necessary to fill this legal gap and consider the possibility of increasing the military age of naturalized citizens to 45 or 50 years,” said Vyacheslav Fadeev (quoted from Telegram channel HRC). He noted that after 27 years, naturalized citizens are no longer subject to conscription into the army.

According to him, there is no talk of immediate mobilization of naturalized foreigners. “In Israel, where some of our citizens have now rushed, a repatriate is given a period of one year to settle in a new place, after which he is drafted into the Israel Defense Forces, regardless of age. I believe that similar mechanisms can be introduced in our country too,” said Vyacheslav Fadeev.

Since September 21, partial mobilization has been announced in Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it was going to call up 300 thousand men with combined arms specialties: shooters, artillerymen, tankers, mechanics, mechanic drivers. Men with the military ranks of privates and sergeants under the age of 35 are called to the mobilization service, junior officers – up to 50 years old, senior officers – up to 55 years old.
