In the Trans-Baikal Territory, payments for the capture or destruction of foreign tanks in Ukraine were introduced to motivate and encourage Transbaikalians participating in a special operation, Governor Alexander Osipov said.

“When someone scares them with some kind of tanks, they (the Trans-Baikal military) will rush with enthusiasm to show Kuz’kin’s mother to all these overseas foreign technical things. So I’m worried, first of all, that they do it reasonably, calmly, without excessive enthusiasm and haste, wisely. Well, and secondly, of course, they are worthy of encouragement for the results, ”Lubov Chistyakova, press secretary of the governor, quoted him as saying (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Osipov also noted that the conditions in which the Trans-Baikal military are located, their equipment, mood and motivation are important for the region.

January 30 Osipov signed decision on payments from 100,000 to 3 million rubles. Transbaikalians for capturing or destroying Leopard and Abrams tanks in the Northern Military District. For the destruction of one Leopard tank, 1 million rubles will be paid, those who participated in the destruction – 150,000 rubles each. The one who captured the M1 Abrams tank will receive 1.5 million rubles, the destroyer – 500,000 rubles. Those who helped to capture or destroy the tank will receive 300,000 and 150,000 rubles. respectively.

January 25 USA announced on the transfer of 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, specifying that the delivery of military equipment will take months. Later, US President Joe Biden announced that the volume of the new military aid package would be $400 million. He stressed that the West’s actions to help Ukraine do not pose a threat to Russia.

On the same day, Germany announced the delivery of 14 Leopard 2 tanks. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement that Berlin also will allow allies to send their Leopard 2 to Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has repeatedly pointed out that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
