The head of the ROC: the IOC is trying to put political pressure on Russian athletes

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is making attempts to shift political responsibility onto Russian and Belarusian athletes. This statement was made by the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov during a meeting of the commission of ROC athletes and representatives of the NOC of Belarus.

“Now the thesis has already changed. They used to say that since our Ukrainian colleagues cannot compete and train, then let's deprive the Russians and Belarusians. But now the vector is different - we see that the Ukrainians are calmly competing, and the IOC is now trying to shift political responsibility to the athletes," Pozdnyakov said.

He also noted that the integrity of the Olympic movement is now under threat. However, he stressed that despite this, athletes need to prepare for the competition.
